Having lived in Sydney for a bit more than 1.5 years, we took the chance to see and travel around Oz. But seriously, Oz is huge so we've only seen a little of these places: Queensland, New South Wales, Australia Capital Territory, Victoria, and Tasmania. If I have to choose one favourite, it would have to be Tasmania (: So, I think it would be a good idea to blog about these places, starting with Queensland!
Brisbane
So we first saw a little of Queensland, Brisbane when we went for a pal's wedding last May (no more flying zolow). We were there for such a short period (flew in on Friday morning and flew out on Sunday morning), talk about fast and furious. But yeah, it was a lovely good taste of Brissie (:
So on Friday morning when we arrived, we had breakfast lovingly made by one of our pals Simon before Joel gets whisked off for groomsmen duties while Uncle kk and I got the chance to explore a little of the city! So Uncle KK and I took a nice walk around the city- we got to see the State Library and Gallery of Modern Art. Also, we got to cross one of the bridges above the Brisbane River.
Oh yeah, so May is like the end of Autumn so it was starting to get cold. But since we flew over from Sydney, Brisbane's temperature felt really comfortable for us (around 18 to 20 degrees).

This is the view from the State Library of Queensland, with a view of the Brisbane River.
Thereafter, Uncle KK and I headed to Coles to do some shopping before heading back to the Airbnb for an awesome Japanese curry dinner (I am amazed at my memory for details) and some super yummy baked camembert topped caramelised onion (again, chef Simon) before conking out for the wedding the next day. Said wedding took place in a fairytale looking church.

After the ceremony, we headed to this place called the Story Bridge for photo-taking session with the newly weds.
It was such a lovely weekend even though it all went by so quickly.
Gold Coast
For my birthday last year, Joel and I planned a road trip, one of the destinations being Gold Coast! More about the rest of the road trip when I blog about New South Wales (which will be last since that's most explored).
One of our favourite memories at Gold Coast would have to be our stay at the Airbnb, where we met this couple (in their 50s) who are ultra hip and has an active lifestyle. Like, they swim in the ocean every single morning at 5 a.m., such discipline. And they both run their own businesses, so they would drive to a small town nearby and do their work (and stay there if they feel like it, which was what exactly happened). So that gave us practically the whole house to ourselves. Hehe. The best facility that we used all the time when we were there was the BBQ pit - Joel loves his meat.
And, what is Gold Coast without some beach life? Ozzie has us loving beach life, really.
Look at how tanned we were last November.
Also, can't miss out on them awesome theme parks. Realised during the trip that I am getting old for thrills- my heart legit cannot take it. Used to love all these adrenaline rush, I still love it but I will hesitate for more moments before I take the rides. We visited Wet n Wild and MovieWorld.
Movie World. Funny story here. In Sydney, Joel and I would play a game where we spot for Singaporeans. Like how Marshall and Ted went on a road trip and played Zitchdog, they say zitchdog when they see a dog on the car. So we use that codeword when we hear or see Singaporeans.
So here in Movie World, we heard some Singaporeans and we turned over to look at who it was. Turns out they were from LSBC as well and the children were kids I've taught in children church. Seriously, how small is the world? Funny how I knew the children but not the parents. The kids were so chill haha. We were queuing up for the Superman ride and we spotted the parents, without the kids. So we went up and chatted with them and the parents were saying how the kids don't like such thrilling rides so they're off chilling somewhere around the theme park. Cuties.
Superman ride. The G-force on this was whewwww... Joel said he tried to raise his hands halfway during the ride but he couldn't cos the G-force was pressing his hands down. It was crazy fast.
So what's Movie World without some pictures of famous characters. Us with Scooby Doo. This is a trick Joel taught me- take a photo with the characters without lining up. Hahhaa
Joel's unimpressed face.
And a photo with joker.
That's it for Queensland. That was the bit we saw. Fun times.
